Thalline squamules dispersed, 0,3–1,5 × 0,2–1,1 mm contiguous or dispersed, 0,3–1,5(2) mm, light brown, chestnut brown to blackish brown, sides and peripheral lower part blackish or whitish. Thalline cortex epinecral layer lacking or thin; layer of living cells 15–40 µm thick, pigmented part formed by a layer of cells with dark brown wall (sometimes to +/- reddish), 2–4,5 µm wide; non pigmented layer formed by small and not well visible cells (2–4,5 µm wide), with inconspicuous lumina (0,5–1,5 µm wide). Apothecia aspicilioid, by 1–4 (6, exceptionally up to 30), staying immersed in the thallus, a little prominent at the end, rounded, 0,15–0,65 mm wide, with a reddish to blackish brown disk and thick and prominent margin, blackish brown or brownish black, darker or of the same color than the disk. Epithecium yellowish brown to dark brown. Hymenium 110-200 µm tall. Peripheral pseudoparathecium cells 1,5–3,5 µm large, with lumina 0,5–1,5 µm large. Central pseudoparathecium cells 1,5–3,5 µm large, with lumina 0,5–1,5 µm large. Paraphyses s.l. apically: 1,5–2,5 µm large, 1/3 above the base: 1–1,5(2) µm large. Asci (103)105–140 × 15–24 µm. Spores (2)3–4(5) × (1)1,5–2 µm.
