Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized; substrate non-calciferous. Thallus: Crustose, squamulose. Thallus Outline: Persistent; white. Upper Surface: Pale brown or white, glossy (shiny); wrinkled (mostly). Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, forming independently from the host thallus or mycelium, up to.7 mm in diam.. Margin: Lecideine/biatorine, smooth or slightly rough (often beneath hymenium), slightly flexuose, distinct or indistinct. Disk: Excavate (when young) or plane, brown, dark brown, or grey-brown, epruinose. Exciple: Not carbonized. Episamma: Without episamma. Epithecium: Apical cells distinctly swollen (up to 5 µm), pale grey, green, or brown. Hymenium: 50-70 µm high. Interascal Hyphae: Distinctly branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Asci: Dehiscence lecanoralean. Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid or oval, 9-14 µm long, 4-6 µm wide; septa absent. Conidiomata: Present; immersed. Conidiophores: Vobis-type III (nearly). Conidia: Filiform; 11-17 µm long, .85 µm wide. Secondary Metabolites: Present, of the following substance class(es): xanthones. Spot Tests: Upper surface: K + deep yellow, KC + orange.
