TYPE. INDONESIA. Maluku, Amboina Island, 1857, C.L. Doleschall s.n. (W, holotype; M M-0024231 / 553510 / 232760, isotype; MICH, isotype).

Description. Life form: lichenized fungus.

Thallus crustose, greenish yellow, thin, continuous, smooth, corticate; vegetative diaspores absent. Photobiont trentepohlioid alga. Ascomata lirellae, immersed to erumpent, with lateral thalline margin, short to elongate, curved or sinuouse, sparsely to radially-branched, labiae convergent, striate, black, epruinose; disk not visible from above. Exciple apically carbonized; hymenium hyaline, not inspersed, 50-100 µm high. Asci 8-spored; ascospores hyaline, 6-12-celled, 33-38 × 5-6 µm.

Chemistry. No substances detected by TLC; spores I+ blue.

Substrate and Habitat. Corticolous on hardwood trees.

Distribution. Eastern Paleotropical and Neotropical north into eastern North America; in North Carolina found in Coastal Plain ecoregion.
