Description.Life form: Lichenized fungus.
Thallus dimorphic. Primary thallus squamulose, regularly persistent; squamules 3-4 x 2-4 mm with few lobes. Podetia slender, 2-7 cm tall, 1-5 mm thick, greenish gray to partly brown, usually somewhat branched, forming cups; cups well-developed, 4-8 mm diam., 2-3 per podetium, margins toothed; base blackened. Podetial surface corticate, continuous to rimose to areolate, usually squamulate. Photobiont Asterochloris alga. Ascomata biatorine apothecia, frequent, dark brown, up to 7 mm diam., on cup margins; ascospores narrowly ovoid, 10-17.5 x 3-5 μm. Pycnidia frequent, 0.2 mm diam.; conidia 6-7 x 0.5-1 μm.
