Thallus: with ascomata, internodes (2-) 4-20 (-30) mm, rarely with lateral branchlets. Substrate and ecology: common on shrubs, especially on dead branches, often found in more exposed microhabitats than Dendrographa leucophaea f. minor (see below) World and Sonoran distribution: ranges from southern Baja California Sur to Monterey County, California but not collected north of Santa Barbara Island later than 1885 (Sundin and Tehler 1996).
