Thallus silvery white. Photobiont absent. Ascomata compound perithecia, 0.25-0.6(-0.8) mm, round to irregular, with 2-15 ascomatal chambers, each with an ostiole and many asci. Hymenia hyaline to pale brown; pseudoparaphyses 1.2-1.7(-2) µm wide, the cells 7-12 µm long. Asci obpyriform, 44-75 x 17-24 µm, 8-spored; ascospores hyaline to brownish, 2(-4)-celled, fusiform, 20-27 x 6.5-8 µm. Conidiomata pycnidia, 30-60 µm diam., conidia 3-4 x 0.8 µm.

Substrate and Habitat. On bark.
Distribution. Europe, Canary Islands, North and South America; in North Carolina found in the Coastal Plain and Blue Ridge ecoregions, likely throughout.
