Pycnidia: immersed in the host thallus, arising singly, black, subglobose, 40-80 µm in diam., opening in an irregular way and occasionally becoming cupulate; wall: hyaline to brown, irregular in thickness and pigmentation, with cells 4.5-7 µm in diam. conidiophores: absent conidiogenous cells: pale brown, subcylindrical, with several annellations, 6.5-10 x 3-3.5(-4) µm conidia: simple, medium red to olivaceous brown, smooth, dry, ellipsoid or more rarely irregular in shape, with a broadly truncate base, 4.5-6 x 3-3.5 µm. Host: on thallus of Dendrographa leucophaea f. minor, not visibly damaged World and Sonoran distribution: known only from the type locality in the U.S.A. (California). Notes: Lichenodiplis dendrographae was recognized only recently and might therefore prove to be more common on Dendrographa thalli. It is similar to L. lecanoricola, but is distinguished by larger conidia and conidiogenous cells.
